The Birth of Bowroo™

Amanda's Story

Feeding a baby sounded simple... until I actually tried it.

Bowroo was born from both experience and heart. For more than 15 years, I’ve lived at the intersection of health, wellness, and innovation — helping people move, feel, and live better. I’ve helped build global brands, launched new products, opened fitness and wellness studios, scaled startups, and partnered with game changing brands. Strategy, creativity, instinct, and execution have always been part of my toolkit — but motherhood changed how I use them.

Feeding my son, Bowen, was beautiful and brutal at once. I was exhausted, hunched over, and wondering why something as natural as feeding felt so physically painful. My neck and back ached. I developed carpal tunnel in my wrists. Each time I sat down to nurse I felt like I was sinking and trapped. I wanted my arms back. I wanted my strength back. I wanted my hope back. When so much about my life was changing, as pieces of me shed and morphed into something new, as I fought through the hormone fog - I wanted to stop fighting my body. As I desperately searched to find my footing, I needed to find a way to get my body back in line.

Most nursing pillows are built like mini beds: big, fluffy, one-size-fits-all. But feeding isn’t one-size-fits-all. Babies grow. Bodies shift. Partners share feeds. And when the gear doesn’t adapt, caregivers contort—twisting, propping, straining—just to make it work.

So, I decided to build what I needed — something small but mighty.

Bowroo™ was born out of that moment — a product that combines ergonomics, empathy, and evidence. Designed to make feeding easier for everyone involved — no matter your body, your baby, or your feeding style.

Because real motherhood is messy, beautiful, demanding, and raw.

And comfort shouldn’t be a luxury — it should be built in.

The name, Bowroo (pronounced BOH-ru), is a tribute to the two who made me a mother: Bowen, my son, and Ruby, our bulldog (affectionately called Roo).
